• If you use bottled water, buy gallon bottles and pour water into reusable cups or bottles; refill gallon bottles for about 35 cents at water dispensing machines, or drink filtered tap water.

• Make your own coffee or tea and put it in a thermal cup to drink on the way to work. If you like sweetened iced tea, dissolve the sugar or honey in it while it is still hot to improve distribution.

• Frozen juice concentrates may cost less than bottled juices. They also take up less refrigerator space and offer more nutrients than soft drinks.

• Use dry milk powder in baking and casseroles. It has the same nutrients as regular milk, costs less, is easier to store and is always on hand.
