We enjoyed a wonderful tour at Café Britt coffee plantation one of the days we were in Costa Rica. As soon as we arrived we were given a delicious iced coffee to drink. Then the fun began…..our tour guide appeared and after some introductions he was joined by others from Café Britt. We learnt about the plantation, the planting, the beans, harvesting etc but amongst all the information (which I just soaked up) they provided lots of banter and jokes. Then we went inside where our guides put on a terrific show (in costume) all about how coffee got to Costa Rica. We were then able to sample lots of coffee and chocolates in the gift shop.

Iced Coffee
1/2 cup Coffee
3 cups cold water, divided
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup half-and-half, chilled
Ice cubes
Whipped cream

Brew coffee in coffeemaker using 1 1/2 cups cold water.
Combine hot brewed coffee and sugar, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Blend in 1 1/2 cups cold water and half-and-half. Chill until ready to use.

Pour coffee mixture over ice in tall glasses or cafe mugs. Top with whipped cream, if desired. Serve immediately.
