The first three years we were married we lived in Germany where I bought a rosette iron. Every Christmas since then we’ve made a big batch of Rosettes to take to parties, families and friends.

1 Cup flourRosettes
1 Cup milk
1 egg
1 Tbl. Sugar
½ tsp salt

(But I always triple!)

Stir together well. Heat Crisco in fryer. Dip rosette iron into batter just up to top, don’t submerge or they won’t come off! Hold in fryer for 45 seconds. (But watch carefully, after the fryer has been on awhile, it gets hotter so they may not take as long after awhile. You can also unplug every so often for awhile.

Drain on paper towels and sprinkle sifted powered sugar on
top. Store in open container with a paper towel on top.
